The Damage of Betrayal and Lies

Ira Gollobin did
one of the most despicable things a father and grandfather can
do to a child. He knowingly planned and secretly carried
out a scheme to
victimize one of his
loving daughters and to damage his only biological granddaughter.
Virtually all psychiatric professionals will agree on the
significant damage caused by what Ira did. While
not sexual or physically violent in nature, what Ira did was clearly a
calculated and vicious example of child abuse. Lest you argue my use of the term "Child Abuse," first reflect on what these respected
organizations say -
Definitions of Child Abuse
* Under U.S. Federal Law:According to the Federal Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) (42
U.S.C.A. §5106g), as amended by the Keeping Children and Families Safe
Act of 2003, defines child abuse and neglect as, at a minimum:
- Any recent act or failure to act on the part of a parent which results in death, serious physical or serious emotional harm,
sexual abuse or exploitation; or
- An act or failure to act which presents an imminent risk of such serious harm.
* American Bar Association:
According to the American Bar Association (and, recall, Ira was
a lawyer), Child Abuse is defined as "Any form of cruelty to a child,
which includes not only physical cruelty but mental cruelty."
* World Health Organization:
According
to the WHO, "Child abuse can occur ar any age"
and includes . . . "mental
abuse, and psychological maltreatment . . . Less
severe acts, but no less damaging are belittling or rejecting treatment . . . or blaming. " |
Make
no mistake - what Ira Gollobin did to his daughter and
his only biological grandchild was not an accident, not an oversight, not something that
somehow just "slipped between the cracks."
No. What Ira Gollobin did in his final Will was purposely
planned and crafted to do
the maximum mental and emotional damage to his daughter and
granddaughter.
His goal was simple and horrible - to punish them because they
didn't worship him as a near-god as he required. Ira did his
evil
by betraying and rejecting a good daughter and a good granddaughter, by
ignoring their futures, by dismissing
them as beneath contempt, and by hugely and visibly rewarding someone who, in my opinion, didn't live his
values but did feed his enormous ego.
In
other words, Ira
Gollobin knew the pain and distress he would cause half his
family - and he wanted them to be emotionally and financially
harmed.
For
a father (and grandfather) to purposely
and viciously damage the daughter and granddaughter who
actually lived
his stated principles and values is, frankly, beyond my comprehension.
And,
further, to then so visibly reward his other daughter (who I
believe fed Ira's enormous, obsessive ego and denigrated her
sister) is sickness personified.
By
my measure, Ira Gollobin was
a child
abuser. He abused and discarded two wonderful people - an
accomplished daughter who dearly loved him and his only
biological granddaughter, a meritorious young woman who actually lived his stated (but ultimately fake) principles.
Any
loving father and grandfather would have rightly been proud
of them and cared about, protected, and provided for them in every
way possible. Ira Gollibin was neither loving or devoted; instead
he was a malignant narcissist who purposely hurt those who wouldn't
tell him he was an equal to Christ.
This loveless wickedness
will be Ira's final, personal legacy. And, like pointing out the rapist, this is a story that must be
told so that those who were damaged can heal and so others can know the truth.
